One Cloud Can't Ruin Anything

About the artists:

Dumontier & Farber have been working together for over 20 years and were founding members of the Royal Art Lodge art collective.

This exhibition features three different bodies of work.

The first is a series of flowers, each matched with a line of text.

The second is called "duets," and features two objects whose relationship is explained within the painting.

The final series contains grids of smaller paintings that are tied together through their simplicity and repetition of imagery and themes.

Dumontier & Farber's work is in the permanent collections of: National Gallery of Canada; Vancouver Art Gallery; Canada Council Art Bank; Winnipeg Art Gallery; Centro De Arte Caja De Burgos (Spain); Takashi Murakami (Tokyo); Folkwang Museum (Essen); and La Maison Rouge (Paris).

Elaborate Paintings

About the artist:

Born 1975, Winnipeg, MB
Education: B.F.A., University of Manitoba (First Class Honours), Winnipeg, MB

For the past few years, Farber has been making paintings comprised of multiple thin layers of clear acrylic pouring medium. Paint is applied both to the wet medium and in between layers, as well to ink and collage materials. This layering adds a third dimension. Most paintings in the exhibition were started over two years ago. Imagery includes a girl, an elephant, a chubby tiger, "Stop" and "Yield" signs.

Farber's work is in the permanent collections of: MoMA, New York; MOCA, Los Angeles; LACMA, Los Angeles; West Collection, Pennsylvania; Olbricht Collection, Essen and Berlin; National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa; and Winnipeg Art Gallery, Winnipeg.
